You don’t hate vacation—you hate losing progress
Have you ever come back from a vacation and feel like everything’s gone to shit?
The scale’s up. Your routine’s off. Your fridge is empty. You’ve had maybe two vegetables in the last week and both of them were in a sandwich.
And now you’re sitting there thinking, “Why did I even bother going away if I’m just going to feel worse when I get back?”
Here’s the thing I’ve learned (and what I keep reminding my clients): Vacation doesn’t have to be a setback.
You can enjoy time away and keep moving forward with your goals, but only if you stop treating travel like a permission slip to abandon the things that actually make you feel good.
And no, I’m not saying you need to track every bite or find a squat rack in a tropical resort. I’m saying the real win is learning how to shift gears without losing momentum.
That might mean:
Getting in a couple of workouts just to move your body, not chase PRs
Aiming for enough protein and water, even if your meals are out of whack
Walking to get coffee instead of sleeping off another late night
Letting go of “perfect” so you can actually f***ing relax.
This balance stuff? It’s a skill.
One that takes reps like anything else.
But when you start building that skill, you realize something huge: The real progress isn’t just in the scale or the lifts, it’s in proving to yourself that you’re the kind of person who can step away, enjoy your life, and still come back stronger.
That’s the kind of work I help my clients do.
If you’ve got goals that matter and a life you don’t want to put on pause to chase them, let’s talk. Reach out to me or one of our coaches at www.masterathletic.com
